Secretary/Treasurer Elections

Elections for LISSA Secretary/Treasurer for the 2009/2010 school year start today. Please send an email with your vote to untlissa@gmail.com by Wednesday, July 22nd at 11:59 PM. Here are the candidates:

Carrie Gassett: My name is Carrie Gassett and I would like to be considered for 2009-2010 LISSA Secretary/Treasurer. I am a first-year graduate student earning my Master’s with a concentration in youth librarianship. Before leaving Houston for Denton in June of 2009, I worked as a leader in theatre arts administration for three years, and earned my undergraduate degree in English from the University of Houston in 2007. In the Houston theatre community, I had the opportunity to work on arts development projects for children, serve as a social and event coordinator, and volunteer for community events such as fundraising galas and the Houston Shakespeare Festival. I currently work under Dr. Ana Cleveland as a teaching assistant and member of the Houston Program team. I am eager to get involved with LISSA and hope to make a difference in the organization!

Melody McCotter: I am interested in running for the LISSA treasurer/secretary position. I am a doctoral student in the LIS department, and received my master's in information science from UNT in August, 2008. I work as a research assistant in the LIS department and TxCDK, so I'm familiar with the faculty and staff, and I'm on campus quite a bit. I have good organization and mathematics skills, so I think I'd be a good fit for this position.

Special Election
